Answered by Ruth Lawrence, professional home organiser in Ascot. If your question isn't here, just ask, I reply to every message myself.

About working with me

Who are your decluttering and organising services for?

Anyone who wants practical help with too much stuff, storage that is not working or a home that takes too much effort to tidy. We can focus on one agreed space or plan several rooms. You do not need to tidy first.

Will you judge me for the state of my home?

Absolutely not. Please don't tidy before I come! Homes get cluttered and I've seen plenty of them. I'm there to help you sort it, not judge how it got there.

Will you take photos of my home?

Your home stays private. I never photograph or share anything without your say-so.

Do I have to get rid of loads?

No. I don’t force you to get rid of anything, lecture you or get bossy. I’m not there to turn you into a minimalist. You decide what stays and what goes, after I have categorised everything. Nothing leaves without your agreement.

Prices and booking

Do you offer in-home consultations?

Yes. I offer in-home consultations to see your space and discuss your priorities. Get in touch to arrange a visit; I confirm the arrangements before you book. The initial phone call remains free.

How much does your unpacking service cost?

Unpacking packages through Your Moving Day, which I co-own with fellow professional organiser Helen, offer a Pre-Move Declutter Day with two organisers from £800, a Kitchen & Principal Bedroom Unpack from £900 and a Full Home Unpack in 7 Hours from £1,250 (£1,250 to £2,300 depending on team size). Travel is charged by postcode and storage products are added at cost.

Decluttering

Do you take rubbish and charity donations away?

I don’t take rubbish or charity donations away myself. I can arrange rubbish collections and free charity collections for donations. We confirm postcode coverage, accepted items and any rubbish collection charges before booking. Nothing leaves without your agreement.

What about sentimental items?

I’m sensitive to sentimental pieces and I’ll never rush you. We can keep the things that matter and find them a proper home, so they’re enjoyed rather than buried.

Can you source storage for me?

Yes. Storage sourcing is part of my decluttering and organising work, not a separate service. Once you’ve decided what to keep, I source storage that suits those belongings and your space, then organise everything into it. The aim is a lovely result that’s practical to use and easy to tidy, not more containers full of things you don’t want.
